WELCOME TO NORTH BEND & COOS BAY AREA POST

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
Veterans of Foreign Wars were and still are the defenders of America's freedom.   Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace. We salute you.

You fought a foreign enemy; you honored your oath. Now we need your help to fight Congress, to remind politicians to keep their oaths.

IN-COUNTRY

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

There is a new cartoon everyday.

Commander's Corner

Commander Waldo Littlefield

The VFW needs your help.

America is in crisis. America's veteran organizations are the canary in the coal mine. America's veteran organizations are dying. Our VFW posts are in danger of losing their charters.    America needs more eligible veterans to join and participate in Veteran Organizations.

When we accepted the call to serve our nation, it was an act of courage, patriotism, and faith. Throughout America’s history, Veterans have always led the fight to make America a more perfect union.

America's politicians are breaking faith with its war fighters, again. They want to cut services and medical benefits. War fighters took an oath to preserve and defend the Constitution. America took an oath to care for its war fighters. America's politicians are breaking that oath, again.

Just under one hundred years ago, America was facing the Great Depression. Embracing austerity, the Federal Government was breaking faith with military veterans. Extraordinary effort by veterans and those who love them was required to compel the US Government to honor its contracts with veterans. Today, we face a similar challenge. Due to shrinking support and membership in the VFW, elected representatives are turning their backs on the needs of those who sacrificed for our Great Nation. Why must we go begging Congress to do their duty? We did our duty; we served with honor.

If you are asked to attend a VFW post meeting to discuss the future of your VFW post, please attend. Let your voice be heard. We need both volume and crispness.

Life is complicated. We each have limited resources. If you are eligible, please make time for the VFW in your life. Nobody does more for veterans than the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
